はじめに

今日で14回目のModel Essayのご紹介です。

実は、今日のModel Essayを選択しようと思ったら、これまでご紹介していた課題が分からなくなってしまったので、過去の記事を見ながら、紙にまとめてみました。

そしたら、Task1のライングラフを提示していない！ということが分かったので、今日はライングラフのご紹介です。

ちなみに、今回の課題は、IELTS-Blogさん: https://www.ielts-blog.com/　で、添削をしてもらい、Band 6.5を取得したものです。

添削部分を加えたので、Band 7.0相当であります。

しかし、少し私としては、満足いかない点もあるので、それは批評としてまとめて見ました（新しい試み！）

エッセー

The line graph describes the consuming amount of energy sources compared with 5 different fuels between 1980 and 2030. Overall, oil has been the main source of energy whereas the use of solar power has remained the least throughout the period. All energy courses have shown an upward trend over half of a century.

It is clear that oil has been the most common fuel to produce energy. It was consumed about 35 billion units in 1980 but showed a slight decrease to 30 billion units. After 1990, it experienced an upward trend and it is predicted to end up at just below 50 billion units.

In contrast, solar and nuclear powers were around 5 billion units each at the beginning and continued to show a similar amount of usages until 2010. Afterward, nuclear power is expected to gain a slightly more consumption rate than solar power by the end of the term. 

In terms of coal and natural gas, the amount for coal was at about 18 billion units while natural gas had just 20 billion units in 1980. By the end of the period, coal is anticipated to surplus natural gas by about 5 billion units at just above 30 billion units.

ポイント 

今回のエッセーのポイントは、期間が1980年から2030年と、過去と未来が混ざっていることです。

IELTSでは、時制のチェックがとても厳しく行われますので、時制は意識しましょう。

ですから、文章では過去：青 / 未来：赤 / 現在分詞：緑にマークをしておきました。

実は、私はこの時制がごちゃませタイプのグラフは本当に苦手でした。

グラフの上がり下がりばかりを意識してしまうと、過去？未来？という点を忘れて、どんどん書いていってしまう傾向がありました。

今回のエッセーの批評

さて、今回は４段落構成で、205wordsですが、これはいい構成とは言えません。

task1は150words とされているので、170 words くらいが最適です。

実は、今回のエッセーは、私がまだエッセーの構成に慣れていなかった時に添削してもらったものを改良したもののため、Bodyが３段落分で、4段落構成になっています。

＊ごめんなさい、この質のエッセーを提供してしまって・・・。

ですが、外部講師の情報と合わせているので、これでも7.0取れると思います。

もう少し詳しく解説しますが、

理想の段落構成は、

Introduction 1段落

Body 2段落　

合計 3段落構成

でも、最近の私は、Overall Statement をIntroductionに加えるのではなく別の段落にするエッセーが好みです。そうすると、

Introduction 1段落

Body 2段落 

Conclusion (Overall Statement )1段落

合計 4段落

ということで、今回のModel EssayはConclusionがないのに、4段落構成であることが、あまりいいとは言えません。（その原因は表現のくどさにあると感じます）

それもあり、205wordsと分量が多くなってしまったんだな〜と思います。
