IELTS Task2 Band 7.0 Model Essay 20 模範解答ーwritten by Sayaー
はじめに
久しぶりにWritingの模範解答を掲載いたします!!
本エッセーは、ブログの運営者であるSaya(@l0vu4ever)がIELTS受験期に書いたエッセーで、IELTS-Blogさんでの添削でBand6.5を取得したものです。
添削結果を元に、文法のミスをなくし、今の私のライティングの力を少しだけ足しましたが、ほとんど当時のままで、載せています。
文法ミスがないという想定で、Band7.0は取得できるであろうと思われるエッセーです。

課題
Some people believe that the development of electronic translators will soon allow people to easily communicate with foreigners from any country and there will be no need to study foreign languages. Do you agree or disagree with the statement?
モデルエッセー
Due to a great development in modern society, some people claim that electronic translators are anticipated to be used regularly in the future and people are no longer required to study foreign languages. In my opinion, I against this statement, and this essay will explain the reasons why foreign language study is essential.
The primary reason is that studying foreign languages will encourage people to form better relationships with people from different countries. This is because people can feel closer if a person can speak their own languages. For instance, the clerks at department stores tend to greet customers’ languages. Psychologically, this will make customers feel easier to talk to the clerks about the products. This example shows that better relationships can be created by languages.
However, some may argue that the time of studying new languages is wasting of time since electronic translators would replace our communication. From this view, I would stress that people are still required some basic understanding of foreign languages when communicating in person. This is because automatic translators cannot be useful on every occasion. As they are invented by people, they have a limited number of vocabulary that they can translate. For instance, on the occasions which require higher vocabulary such as academic and business situations, electronic translators are not suitable. In this regard, if people do not have any knowledge of foreign languages, they may not be able to find out the mistakes made by electronic translators.
In conclusion, modern technological development will soon create a world that people do not need to study foreign languages. However, foreign language skills are essential in this globalizing world to form better relationships. Moreover, people cannot depend on electronic translators at every occasion. Because of these reasons, I believe that people should continue studying foreign languages.

＊補足１：Introductionについて
パラグラフ１の
In my opinion, I against this statement, and this essay will explain the reasons why foreign language study is essential.
の部分は、Thesis Statement と言って、この文章が、何を書くのか？ということを表しています。
Thesis Statementが含まれていない文章は、おそらくBand 6.0は取れません。
＊補足２：Conclusionについて
パラグラフ４＝Conclusionパラグラフですので、全体のエッセーのまとめしか書いてはいけません。
ここで新しいネタを出すと、Coherence（一貫性）に欠けるということで、減点対象です。
そのため、パラグラフ４の

の部分は、パラグラフ２のまとめです。
パラグラフ４の
Moreover, people cannot depend on electronic translators at every occasion.
の部分は、パラグラ３のまとめです。
といった具合に、まとめを中心に書きます。
話はそれてはいけません！！
＊補足3: Word Countについて
IELTS task2は250以上書くことが求められています。今回の300wordsはちょっと書きすぎですが、時間内に書けるのであれば減点対象にはなりません。ただ、スペルチェック、文法チェックなどの時間を考えると、300wordsまで書かない方が無難です。
一般的には、おおよそ270wordsくらいを目指すといいでしょう。
ただし、注意しておきたいことは、250words未満になるとBand0.5~1.0が下がってしまうくらい致命的なミストなるので、writingの練習のコツは、文章の長さ調整です。
でも、これって結構難しいですよね！！
